Tumut 2 Power Station plays a critical role within the Snowy Scheme – supplying renewable power through a high-head storage and generation system. Originally commissioned more than 60 years ago, the station required a major transformer and protection system upgrade to maintain operational integrity and meet current safety and grid standards.
PHE Group was engaged by Snowy Hydro under a lump sum contract to deliver the electrical scope. Works were undertaken in a live environment under compressed outage windows, within a confined transformer hall located in remote alpine terrain.
The delivery formed part of a broader program of upgrades across Snowy Hydro assets, reinforcing long-term trust in PHE's technical capability and adaptability in legacy hydro environments.
