A critical role in the Cockatoo Coal Expansion – enabling Baralaba’s production to grow from 750 ktpa to 3.5 Mtpa.

The Baralaba Coal Expansion is a greenfield open-cut development in the Bowen Basin, approximately 150 kilometres west of Rockhampton and 210 kilometres west of the Port of Gladstone. The expansion increased production from 750 ktpa to 3.5 Mtpa of Ultra Low Volatile PCI coal, strengthening Baralaba’s position as a long-term exporter to the Asian steel market.

To support this uplift, a new Train Load-Out (TLO) facility and rail loop were constructed at Moura. This infrastructure became a critical link between mine and port, enabling a step change in coal logistics and export capacity. PHE Group was engaged to deliver the complete electrical and instrumentation (E&I) installation.

Project Scope

  • 22kV underground ring main installation
  • 5 kilometers of LV underground conduit installation
  • RMU and Transformer installation
  • Cable support structure
  • LV cable installation and terminations
  • Instrument supply and installation
